After failing to set up even a small factory making needles or safety pins in Bihar despite being in power for a decade and a half, the former Deputy Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushil Kumar Modi declared Bihar would be overflowing with job opportunities once the BJP comes into power in the neighboring state of West Bengal.

Modi, who is now a Rajya Sabha member, is actually selling change of power in West Bengal as something directly related to millions of job opportunities for Biharis once Mamata Banerjee is replaced with a BJP Chief Minister who will, according to the BJP’ians, usher a wave of development and progress in the state.

The BJP leader, however, forgot to mention why a developed Bihar could not have been even better for its own people or for its neighboring states like West Bengal, UP, or Jharkhand. He very carefully omits to say why only Bihari laborers have to migrate to other states and not the other way round.

Modi was the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar between 2005 and 2013 and again between 2017 and 2020. Between him and his boss Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Bihar failed to attract any business in the state though the duo, with careful media management, projected the state as the next Germany or Singapore in terms of development and job opportunities.

The two also misled the voters and public about world-class health care system in Bihar despite the fact that till today, people rush to Delhi, Mumbai, or Bangalore to get any decent medical care for even the simplest health issue like the removal of appendix.
